Just a thought:)Would it be possible for students to get credit for math or reading tutoring as if they were receiving credit for being a TA? They could sign up to assist a math or academic lab teacher, with teacher approval first,of course, only their responsibility would be to help students that are struggling with math or reading rather than the typical TA responsibilities. Only one or two TA's would be possible per class, I imagine, but they could work with students once the class has begun their regular assignments. In math, I would expect a TA to have already successfully completed the level of math that they are signed up to assist with. Anastasia
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. Perhaps Honor Society students could receive community service hours for the time they devote to tutoring. One concern I have, though, is that many of the students who would make the best math tutors are also those who don't have enough time in their schedules for all the classes they want to take. They may not wish to take a TA period.
